Castor, Levin To Join Thompson, High School Students In Effort To Highlight Climate-Related Impacts On Mental Health
WASHINGTON – On Thursday, Chair Kathy Castor and Rep. Mike Levin of the House Select Committee on the Climate Crisis will participate in a press conference hosted by Rep. Mike Thompson to highlight the impact of climate-related disasters on mental health, particularly among young people.
The Members will be joined by the two high school climate advocates who helped author House Resolution 975, which was introduced by Rep. Thompson and Chair Castor earlier this year and co-sponsored by Rep. Levin. The resolution raises awareness about the mental health pandemic of youth climate anxiety; highlights its disproportionate impact on the youth in black, indigenous, and people of color communities; and advocates for resources to support the mental health of young people affected by the climate crisis.
